The Benefits

There are countless benefits to eating a raw food diet. The first thing that a person will notice when they begin to eat a raw food diet is that they will almost immediately start losing weight. Fat in a diet comes mostly from meat and meat products, and the fats that do not come from meat are generally loaded with other nutritional properties, making them fats that are beneficial. People that eat a raw food diet generally eat a great deal less calories in their diet, thus eating raw foods can lower weight and can be beneficial for many of the diseases that are brought on my excess weight.

There has not been a lot of scientific evidence that can prove that eating a raw food diet can cure things like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and the like, but it does stand to reason that when a person is eating a diet that is high in vegetables and fruits and low in things like saturated fats, and also low in salts; that such a person would be inevitably keeping problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol at bay.

The Raw Food Shopping List

Very few people that eat a raw food diet, eat only raw foods. The majority will eat about 80 percent of their foods raw, and they will not cook their food over about 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Many of the people that choose to eat a raw food diet consider themselves to be vegan, but there are a number of raw food eaters that choose to eat things such as raw meats, raw fish and unpasteurized milk. Even though a person does have certain limits on their diet when they choose to eat raw, they still have a long list of options that are available to them. The following is a list of some of the many foods that one can eat on a raw food diet:

Fruits

Vegetables

Legumes

Sprouts

Seeds Nuts

Nut Butters

Grains

Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Raw Coconut Butter

Freshly Squeezed Fruit and Vegetable Juice

Herbal Teas

How to Get Started

Getting started on the raw food diet can be the most difficult thing. One of the best things that can be done would be to stock up your home with some of the items on the above list. When a person has things like fruits and vegetables available at all time, they are less likely to feel like they are being deprived of food. The next important things is to make sure that you always have food and snacks packed with you especially when going to work or out with friends. When hunger strikes it is usually the time when one feels like they want to eat anything that is close by, and that is when fast food comes into play. By having food available that is natural and raw, a person will never feel like they are hungry.

It may be hard to eat out at first, because one has to find different restaurants that serve raw foods, and there are not many that do.
